3D Wall Panel FAQs

Have a read of our 3D Wall Panels FAQs to find out if they might be right for your project.

We’ve worked hard to develop a new production method (patent pending!) which means there is very minimal, if any at all, bowing of the panels, which is traditionally characteristic with this type of board. This means Vtec 3D panels will sit much flatter than other panels of this type in the industry.

Approximately 2.4m x 1.2m

Approximately 19kg / m² but this varies depending on the design. Please check with our Technical Department for further details.

The standard thickness is nominal maximum thickness of 18mm.

Please provide us with the dimensions of the area you wish to cover and our Technical Department can produce a panel layout scheme to quantify this, and also to assist your installers on site.

We use high quality moisture-resistant mdf (we generally use deep rout or fire retardant) as a minimum specification. Please contact us if you wish to use a different material.

3D Panels can be produced as PEFC Certified. Please talk to us about your specific requirements prior to quotation.

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) care for forests globally and locally, working to protect forests by promoting sustainable forest management through certification. This means we can all benefit from the many products that forests provide now, while ensuring these forests will be around for generations to come. To learn more, visit www.pefc.org.

No, we are not restrictive on this. Many tradesmen will have the required skills and will also have developed their own preferred methods and techniques.

Yes, especially when we supply you with finished boards! For example, you can cover a large area of wall in a single night shift if required enabling the store to trade uninterrupted in the day. The result is that your 3D interior is up and functioning very quickly.

They can be installed using typical joinery techniques such as split battens or “z-clips”, aluminium hockey sticks or male / female click fix systems, so there are no visible fixings. We recommend that a minimum of 3 lines of fixings or restraint is used to counter any bowing of machined mdf. Our new production method (patent pending!) means there is hardly any, if at all, movement of the panels which is inherent with this type of board. This means Vtec 3D panels will sit much flatter than other panels of this type.

We prefer to manufacture your panels to fit your wall sizes so the panels arrive fully finished, ready to install so there is no need for cutting on site. However, if you do need to cut the panels for some reason, common methods of cutting include handsaw, jigsaw/circular saw or table saw.

All of our patterns are designed and created in-house to do just that!  They are produced so the features meet with those of adjacent sheets.

Certain patterns can be fastened to a curved substrate. Please speak to our Technical department to discuss this.

We do not advise direct exposure to water, but they can be used as decorative features in changing areas, spa rooms etc with some precautions. Please speak to our Technical department to discuss this.

They are virtually maintenance free but can benefit from dusting or hovering with soft brush attachment if you wish.

Depending on the finish, they can be wiped with a damp cloth, and if required add a weak soap solution. Do not use detergent or abrasive cleaners.

Standard grade panels are not, so if you have an FR requirement we can produce in FR grade to Class 1 or Class 0 standard. Please contact us to find out more about the combinations and options available.

When installed by secret fixing systems the panels can be taken off and re-used.

Yes, please stipulate this on your order if you wish to finish this yourselves.

The finishes we provide may vary slightly between items and batches. Please note that due to screen resolution issues the colours shown are representative only.

  • Always wear correct PPE when handling or working with building materials.
  • Always fasten each panel with three lines of fixing to overcome the inherent movement of the panels after machining.

  • Always store the panels in a dry environment
  • Never lean up against the wall; always ensure they are stored flat with consistent support throughout the panel.
  • Always carry vertically on their edges, never flat.
  • Always protect decorative faces during storage or handling
  • Observe safe working practice and manual handling procedures.

If you have any questions on our 3D Wall Panels that aren’t covered by the above FAQs, please get in touch and we will be happy to assist you.

Product images are indicative of the finished product only. Whilst every effort is made to ensure consistency, due to the manufacturing constraints of 3D Wall  Panels, colours may vary between panels and batches. We reserve the right to alter specifications and details without notice.

Machined mdf will also have an inherent tendency to bend, and this is countered by ensuring each panel is fastened using continuous support (e,g, zed sections, split batten techniques) in 3 rows.
