3D Wall Panels FAQ

If you have any questions that aren’t answered by the below FAQ, please feel free to get in contact with us.

WHAT SIZE ARE 3D WALL PANELS?

Approximately 2.4m x 1.2m

HOW HEAVY ARE 3D WALL PANELS?

Approximately 10 kg per m²

WHAT THICKNESS ARE 3D WALL PANELS?

The standard thickness is nominal maximum thickness of 18mm.

HOW MANY 3D WALL PANELS DO I NEED?

Please provide us with the dimensions of the area you wish to cover and our Technical Department can produce a panel layout scheme to quantify this, and also to assist your installers on site.

WHAT ARE 3D WALL PANELS MADE FROM?

We use high quality moisture-resistant mdf as a minimum specification. Please contact us if you wish to use a different material.

DO 3D WALL PANELS NEED SPECIALIST INSTALLERS?

No. Life is complicated enough without that. We are not restrictive as many tradesmen will have the required skills and will also have developed their own preferred methods and techniques.

ARE 3D WALL PANELS QUICK TO INSTALL?

Yes – Especially when we supply you with finished boards! For example you can cover a large area of wall in a single night shift if required enabling the store to trade uninterrupted in the day. And whenever you install the result is that your interior is up and functioning very quickly.

HOW ARE 3D WALL PANELS INSTALLED?

They can be installed using typical joinery techniques such as split battens or “z”-clips so there are no visible fixings. We recommend that a minimum of 3 lines of fixings or restraint is used to counter the inherent bowing of machined mdf.

ARE 3D WALL PANELS EASY TO CUT?

Yes – common methods of cutting include handsaw, jigsaw/circular saw or table saw.

DO 3D WALL PANELS JOIN?

All of our patterns are designed and created in-house to do just that!  They are produced so the features meet with those of adjacent sheets.

CAN 3D WALL PANELS BE CURVED?

Certain patterns can be fastened to a curved substrate. Please speak to our Technical department to discuss this.

CAN 3D WALL PANELS BE USED IN WETROOMS?

We do not advise direct exposure to water, but they can be used as decorative features in changing areas, spa rooms etc with some precautions. Please speak to our Technical department to discuss this.

DO 3D WALL PANELS REQUIRE ANY MAINTENANCE?

They are virtually maintenance free but can benefit from dusting or hovering with soft brush attachment if you wish.

HOW DO YOU CLEAN 3D WALL PANELS?

Depending on the finish, they can be wiped with a damp cloth, and if required add a weak soap solution. Do not use detergent or abrasive cleaners.

ARE 3D WALL PANELS FIRE RESISTANT?

Standard grade panels are not, so if you have an FR requirement we can produce in FR grade to Class 1 or Class 0 standard. Please contact us to find out more about the combinations and options available.

CAN 3D WALL PANELS BE RE-USED?

When installed by secret fixing systems the panels can be taken off and re-used.

CAN I SPECIFY OR ORDER PLAIN 3D WALL PANELS?

Yes, please stipulate this on your order if you wish to finish this yourselves.

ARE THE COLOURS OF 3D WALL PANELS SHOWN HERE ACCURATE?

The finishes we provide may vary slightly between items and batches. Please note that due to screen resolution issues the colours shown are representative only.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO OBSERVE WITH 3D WALL PANELS?

  • Always wear correct PPE when handling or working with building materials.
  • Always fasten each panel with three lines of fixing to overcome the inherent warping of the panels after machining.

HOW DO WE HANDLE AND STORE 3D WALL PANELS?

  • Always store the panels in a dry environment
  • Never lean up against the wall; always ensure they are stored flat with consistent support throughout the panel.
  • Always carry vertically on their edges, never flat.
  • Always protect decorative faces during storage or handling
  • Observe safe working practice and manual handling procedures.

CAUTIONS

Please note that due to the manufacturing constraints of 3D Wall Panels that colours can vary between panels and batches, and images of the product are only indicative of the finished product. We reserve the right to alter specifications and details without notice.

Machined mdf will also have an inherent tendency to bend, and this is countered by ensuring each panel is fastened using continuous support (e,g, zed sections, split batten techniques) in 3 rows.
